“We are having a special runway show,” said Lena Varis, Mistress of Ceremonies. “Our students of William Spyropoulos School are modeling ‘fashions of the heart’. We have educators wear Estelle’s Dressy Dresses of Farmingdale, L.I.” Hair styles were fashioned by Christie and Co. Sophia Hall, Greek-American CBS radio personality, introduced Estelle’s Fashion Show. Photography was by Christos Hountas. This unique event was held on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 11th, at the Sand Castle in Franklin Square, L.I. Over three hundred persons attended.
“The program included greetings by PTA president Mrs. Karen Kalkanis, Principal Mrs. Athena Kromidas and Assistant Principal Mrs. Mary Tzallas. The chairladies of the event were Mrs. Lena Varis, Mrs. Anastasia Vrettos, Mrs. Helen Papageorgiou and Mrs. Maria Perdik. The models included: students of the William Spyropoulos School and educators, Ms. Niki Cheras, Ms. Angela Fiotodimitrakis, Mrs. Stavroula Konstantakopoulou and Ms. Maria Palesty.
“Our young ladies of today will one day turn into beautiful and intelligent women of tomorrow,” said Mrs.Varis, former two terms PTA President. “They will encounter a world of opportunities. They will realize their dream. Every step along the way they will turn to their role models for guidance, such as their mothers, grandmothers, aunts, godmothers and others. Women who motivate them to have a positive self image. Their teachers will teach and cultivate their minds while being an example for our young girls to follow: independent, confident and professional women. We are here today to applaud them.”
