2002 Emmy Award winner JENNIFER ANISTON, of “Friends” fame, graduated Fiorello LaGuardia High School, in Queens in 1987. Her parents would yell at her because she only wore black and had a Mohawk haircut. She also had a reputation of being the “class-clowny” and for that was a frequent visitor to the principal’s office. She grew up in Manhattan and attended the Rudolf Steiner School where she was in the drama club. She went on to appear off-Broadway in productions such as “For Dear Life”, before landing the role of Rachel in “Friends”. Her biggest role was in the horror movie “The Leprechaun”. Aniston co-starred in the film “Office Space”. She married Brad Pitt in July, 2000. Aniston went on to star in the critical success of “The Good Girl” and co-starred in the film “Bruce Almighty”, before signing up for the final season of “Friends”, in 2003. Last year she won the Emmy Award for “Best Actress in a Comedy”, where she portrayed the expectant mother Rachel, in “Friends”. Nominated again this year, but it was not meant to be.
An Emmy Award winner last year, MICHAEL CHIKLIS was nominated once again as Detective Vic Mackey for FX’s “The Shield”, in the category of “Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series”. But, it did not happen, this year.
Soccer is still not a favorite American past time, probably because there are no time-outs in the game and as a result it becomes very hard to market commercially on television. But, locally in high schools it is wide-spread. It receives plenty of ink in the local newspapers. So, when you read about a couple of young talented soccer players like JOHN KARATZAS and PETER CHRISTOFORIDIS, it does your heart proud. Both these fellows play for Francis Lewis High School, John is the goalie who made nine saves in their last game against Cardozo High School, while Peter scored a goal.
