The Center for Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies, at Queens College will host their 25th Annual Certificate of Achievement Awards Dinner on Thursday, May 29th at 7:30 p.m. at the Student Union Building at Queens College. In addition there will a lecture on “Questions on Culture and the Sustenance of Greek Identity in a Complex American Landscape”, by Dr. Chris P. Ioannides, Director-elect of the Center.
Dr. William Tenet, who has two offices, one in Bayside and the other in Astoria is seeking more spacious office space for his Astoria office. He has secured larger facilities in the mini-shopping center above Mediterranean Foods at 23-18 31st Street in Astoria. Sharing space with Dr. Tenet will be a young, talented Neurologist Dr. Dimitri Karides, who is originally from Astoria. Best of luck on their move. For those of you who may not know…Dr. Tenet is the twin brother of the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) George J. Tenet. Both these well know personalities are Flushing bred. Speaking of George Tenet, he will be honored on Saturday, June 7th by The Pancyprian Association of America at their 12th Annual Freedom Award Dinner to be held at the Hilton Hotel. HAPAC, the Hellenic American Political Action Committee which had its re-birth last month has gone out to the community and is getting a tremendous response from new members. It seems that people are looking for a political voice for the Hellenic community in New York and like the concept of HAPAC.
