Newark, NJ.- During the entire month of May 2008, several Millennium bcpbank representatives visited 12 elementary schools within its local communities and provided basic financial education to approximately 700 young students.
This initiative was modeled in accordance with the national “Teach Children to Save” program, sponsored by the American Bankers Association Education Foundation.
The importance of saving, wise spending practices and the purpose of the banking system were the main topics discussed during the lessons. A typical Financial Education lecture lasted 30 minutes, during which students had the opportunity to participate and ask any question about saving, banking principles and the financial system.
Compared with the results achieved in the 2007 “Teach Children to Save” program, there was 33% increase in the number of schools visited and a 100% increase in student attendance.
Millennium bcpbank is proud to be actively contributing to the education of our communitiesʼ future leaders and intends to continually participate in similar initiatives within all of its local Communities.
