New York.- The Hellenic American Educators Association /UFT celebrated Greek Culture And Heritage and Greek Independence Day on Thursday March 20 2008 at the UFT headquarters in lower Manhattan . President Deme Savopolis spoke about the historical significance of March 25 1821 and then introduced keynote speakers Katherine Boulukos and Anastasia Nicholas, co-founders of the Greek Museum,the Center for Greek American Heritage who gave a slide narrative on Our History -Our People:the Greek American Experience in New York City. A Greek buffet and wine followed the presentation, topped off with Greek dance instruction by Elias Marneris, dance specialist from Astoria.
