The best Christmas decoration is seeing smiles on persons. December 19th was a day of smiles and happiness at the Kimisis Tis Theotokou Church in Southampton when the children of the Sunday School performed music hymns and a nativity play after the Divine Liturgy. The Music Director was Sophia Saridakis. The Production Committee included Sia Arvans, Director and Sandy Urban, Assistant Director. Rev. Alexander Karloutsos is protopresbyter. Rev. Constantine Lazarakis is presbyter.
A musical instrumental group, that included violins, flutes, clarinet, guitar, piano and snare drum, was created from the Sunday School. Mrs. Sophia Saridakis said “the children’s performance of Christmas hymns shows the heart of our church. Their efforts reflect their deep faith in Church and God.” Mrs. Saridakis has donated her services to the Kimisis Tis Theotokou Church for seven years. Mrs. Sia Arvans explained her “love for the children. My way of giving back and showing my devotion to my faith is working at the Sunday School.” She is Sunday School Director for fifteen years.
“The New Year will mark the building of our new church,” explained Parish Council President Demetrios Hatgistavrou. “Our church will be a landmark in the Hamptons when completed. We thank all with a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.”
Protopresbyter Rev. Karloutsos believes “the church is a memorial of persons. It is alive with young persons.” Presbyter Lazarakis explained “Christmas is born in our hearts.” For more information, visit http://www.kimisishamptons.ny.goarch.org.
