WASHINGTON D.C. – Public Order Minister George Voulgarakis is to pay an official visit to the US on May 2-8 for talks with senior government officials on security in the Athens 2004 Olympics, his office said in a statement on Friday. Accompanying Voulgarakis will be the heads of the Greek intelligence service Pavlos Apostolidis, Greek Police Fotis Nasiakos and the spokesman general Lfteris Economou, the statement said.
On Wednesday, Mr Voulgarakis will meet Homeland Security Secretary, Tom Rigde, followed by a meeting with Senator Paul Sarbanes. On Thursday he will have a working lunch with Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage, followed by meetings with FBI Director Robert Mueller and CIA Director George Tenet.
On Friday Mr Voulgarakis will speak at a Community meeting at the Stathakeion Center, in Astoria New York.
