NEW ΥΟΡΚ.- Councilman Peter Vallone Jr is definitely, Astoria’s favored son in the City Council, has many great friends and supporters within the Greek American Community. Many of them he “inherited” from his father, former Speaker of the City Council, Peter Vallone, but many more he made during his first very successful term.
There are very few events organized in the Greek American Community at large, that Peter Vallone misses. In that rare case, his Greek American Chief of Staff, George Mihaltses will be there. Ten days ago, both Peter Vallone Jr and George Mihaltses have attended William Spyropoulos PTA Fashion Show.
PTA President Lena Varis had only warm words to say about Peter Vallone.
“We are fortunate to have an elected official that not only supports our Greek- American community, but also welcomes and addresses all our issues and concerns. Such a friend, is Councilman Peter Vallone Jr. His allegiance to the Greek Community is most evident that he is a true supporter. His commitment is not only to public policy and politics, but also to the restoration of moral values and the importance of family life in our community. He proudly carries on this Philhellene tradition started by his grandfather Judge Charles Vallone and his father former Council Speaker Peter Vallone Sr.
Our efforts as a community, should be to elevate and promote true leaders like Councilman Vallone, Jr”..
On Tuesday December 9, at 6 pm, The cast of Law and Order, Jerry Orbach and Stephanie March , along with the New York City Public Safety Associations, organize a holiday party, in honor of Councilman Peter Vallone Jr, Chairman of the Public Safety Committee, at the Lotus Club in Manhattan (409 West 14 Str).
George Makkos and other Greek American friends of Peter Vallone call on the community to be there and help our great friend.
“I am honored, as Astoria’s Councilman, to represent the largest Greek population outside of Greece. The Greek-American community is a vibrant and vital part of what makes New York City the greatest City in the world.”, Peter Vallone Jr told Greek News.
“America was built on Greek ideals of democracy, freedom and liberty. These ideals are even more important today as we fight to defend them from those who would take them away from us”, he added.
Vallone also said, he is very proud to have provided funding for many programs that are important to the Greek-American community including HANAC, St. Demetrios Youth , the Hellenic Immersion program run by the Federation of Hellenic Societies, the Queens College Modern Greek and Byzantine Studies Center, Cypreco of America, the Greek Broadcasting Network, AKTINA Productions, COSMOS-FM and Athens Square Park.”
