Washington, D.C. – The AHEPA and the University of Indianapolis, Athens Campus, have joined forces to offer an unforgettable experience to young people, announced Supreme President Ike Gulas.
“Since Journey to Greece was re-launched in 2006, interest and participation continues to grow,” said Gulas. “We believe that by working in tandem with the University of Indianapolis we are able to provide all the students an opportunity to immerse themselves in Greek culture, while gaining an unforgettable educational experience,” added Gulas. “Education is a key element of AHEPAʼs mission and weʼre pleased to be fulfilling it through this unique program.”
The Journey to Greece Program is a study tour that will provide students with six transferable university credits. The students will be given an opportunity to select courses from a list that includes: Modern Greek Language 1 and 2; Modern Greek History and Politics; The History of the Orthodox Church; History of the Greeks of America; Art and Archaeology and Plato and Aristotle. The course prospectus and application can be downloaded online at www.ahepa.org/journey.
Journey to Greece 2008 will commence June 15, and will consist of two separate groups. They will be supervised by chaperones, led by AHEPA Past Supreme President Dr. James F. Dimitriou.
“In addition to a remarkable educational experience at the foot of the Acropolis, the students will also embark on an easyCruise sponsored excursion through the Aegean,” said Dimitriou.
Supreme President Gulas added that it is exciting to have the JTG students in Greece to participate at our 86th Annual Supreme Convention in Athens, July 1 – 12, 2008.
