The Hellenic American Women’s Council (HAWC), will be holding its tenth annual conference, on November 8, 2003, at the Roosevelt Hotel, in New York City. The Theme for this year’s conference is “TIMES OF CRISIS/WOMEN OF STRENGTH”. A distinguished panel of speakers will describe examples from their personal and professional experience where ordinary women have displayed extraordinary strength and courage when faced with adversity or life-altering situations. They will explore the qualities and characteristics of “being a woman” that provide this gender with the abilities to face and conquer life’s setbacks, in their own special way.
The three-member panel will include Ramina Johal, Senior Coordinator of the Women’s Commission for Refugee Women and Children, Maria Martin, New York based Business Performance Services; and Laura Stephen Sutton, Certified Psychiatric Nurse Specialist and Family Therapist.
Moderating the above panel discussion will be Kathryn Porter, founder and President of the Human Rights Alliance. Keynote speaker at the conference will be Gail Blanke, founder and president of Lifedesigns, LLC.
The highlight of the HAWC conference is the presentation of the ARISTEON AWARD to the Honorable MARINA CORODEMUS, J.S.C., Judge of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Middlesex County.
