On January 10 at his home in Cookeville , TN Nick Demas announced his candidacy for the 6th district of Tennessee seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. The event was a nomination petition open signing house.
Nick Demas is a Republican who is committed to a limited federal government, term limits for congressmen, a balanced budget, and a congress that is composed of people with extensive experience outside of politics. For more information about Nick’s political thinking, see DEMASFORCONGRESS.COM
Dr. Demas is a Professor Emeritus at Tennessee Technological University (TTU), College of Engineering. He and Barbara have been married for 44 years. They have two daughters and a son , Helen, Dina, and George. All university graduates.
Nick has worked as a Restaurant Worker, Draftsman, Cashier, Painter , Research Scientist, Design Engineer, and finally University Professor. He owned and operated a small business. He was the Director of the Nuclear Technology Program at TTU.

Nick Demas has a B.S. in Physics from West Liberty State College where he was president of his fraternity, an M.S. in Physics from the University of Pittsbugh, and a Ph.D in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Wisconsin. He also attended the University of Puerto Rico.
Experience is the best teacher, and Nick’s varied experiences have equipped him to understand and act for the diverse population of the 6th district of Tennessee in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Nick’s mother has a home in Sparta, Greece that he and his wife Barbara visit frequently. In his youth he was a member and president of the local GOYA chapter. He has sung in church choirs since he was 15. Currently, he is president of Parthenon Chapter 343 of AHEPA.
