NEW YORK.- The Democratic National Committee launched a campaign aiming at the Greek American vote, especially in the toss-up states of Florida, Ohio and Michigan. The ad entitled “Stronger at Home, Respected in the World”, stresses that Greek-Americans can count on respect and leadership from the Democratic Party. Two weeks ago Democratic Presidential candidate John Kerry, had issued a statement with his positions on Greek American issues.
The DNC statement praises the values of Greek Americans and Greece as a close ally of the United States.
“The Greek values of family, hard work, education, civic engagement and love of country are American values. And Greek-Americans have made contributions to every aspect of our national life. The U.S. and Greece are bound together by history, politics and culture. Democrats salute the more than one million Americans of Greek origin who are a tribute to this valuable, long-standing relationship.
Democrats will make this bond stronger and deeper, with better economic ties. They are committed to seeing the island of Cyprus reunited under the terms of a just and peaceful settlement that has the support of all its people.
Democrats will help Greek-American entrepreneurs create and sustain profitable small businesses.

“Republicans have failed Greek-Americans by failing to show the required leadership, diplomacy and commitment in resolving the Cyprus conflict to help bring peace and stability to the region. Republicans have made the wrong choices and moved us in the wrong direction”.
On national security and foreign policy, the Democratic Party states that “Democrats know that America needs to move in a new direction that will make us stronger at home and respected in the world. America can do better. Greek-Americans can help.
