Nicosia.- (CNA) – There is a general consensus that Cyprus tourism is moving in the right direction, UN World Tourism Organisation Secretary General Taleb Rifai said on Friday, after a tourism workshop at the Filoxenia conference centre, in Nicosia.
On his part Cyprus Tourism Organisation Director General Marios Hannides expressed cautious optimism as regards tourist arrivals, noting that assurances were made on the part of the UN WTO delegation that everything is returning to normal and negative impact from the Eurogroup has started to decline significantly.
UN WTO Secretary General expressed the point of view that the tourism sector is “capable of supporting and helping the entire Cypriot economy”.
Referring to the various meetings he had during the course of the day, Rifai said that “there is a general consensus that things are moving in the right direction”.
“Travel and tourism can and is one of the very – very few sectors that can form the very bright future of Cyprus”, he pointed out.
