Nicosia.- Minister of education and culture George Demosthenous has expressed the will and determination of the Cyprus EU Presidency to promote the important issues of sport and health discussed during the two -day Informal Meeting of EU Sport Ministers held here.
Speaking at a press conference, following the conclusion of the meeting, Demosthenous said that the official program of the EU Sport Ministers focused on the field of sport and health, putting special emphasis on the issue of active aging and the role of sport in shaping a more active and healthy citizens.
In order to present the international experience and dimension of the issue, he added, a special expert had been invited to attend the meeting to present the way the issue of active aging is being approached in North America.
Moreover, he said that a discussion was held on the basis of a document prepared by the Cyprus Presidency on the role of physical activity in active aging.
He went on to say that during the meeting “we also discussed the issue of the European Union representation to the Council of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
