Chicago, IL.- Ancient Hellenic educators knew the importance of education, not only in one’s personal growth, but also in the development of strong societies. An educated society is a stronger society. Yet one of the greatest challenges is ensuring that college students have adequate resources to complete their education and contribute meaningfully to society.
According to College Board, an organization that tracks current trends in higher education, tuition costs have shown a modest increase over the past two years, yet student costs keep rising. Why? Financial aid has failed to keep pace with tuition increases. Without resources from the private sector, many students are unable to complete their education.
Chris P. Tomaras understands the important role the private sector plays in helping students overcome financial burdens. He created the PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation to ensure that academically exceptional college students have the resources they need to attain their educational goals. His new initiative, The Chairman’s Challenge, matches a donor’s contribution, dollar for dollar, doubling its impact in supporting financially deserving and academically worthy Greek American undergraduates.
“Since establishing the PHSF, I have witnessed how our scholarships have made a life-changing impact,” says Chris Tomaras. “The Chairman’s Challenge will multiply our available resources, expanding scholarship awards and leadership initiatives. I believe that our best and brightest have the drive and ambition to build a better, stronger America. They need our support to continue their journey of becoming life-long contributors to society. I ask you to accept our challenge. Join us in making a contribution today!”
For every donation of $1,000 to $10,000, Mr. Tomaras will personally match each donation up to a total of $200,000. Combined with his contribution of $200,000, a total of $400,000 will support the PHSF’s scholarship and leadership programs. You can triple the value and impact of your gift through a company’s matching gift program.
Matching gifts of $10,000 will include a scholarship award in the name of your choice. This award will be presented at the Foundation’s Gala on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at the Hilton Chicago. Additional matching gift opportunities are also available. A full description of The Chairman’s Challenge can be found here. You can make your donation online or by contacting the PHSF at 312-357-6432. All gifts are greatly appreciated and are tax-deductible as allowed by law.
