New York.- “Epigramma I” will be performed by Athanasia Tzannou on November 3, at 6:45 PM at Daniel and Joanna S. Rose Rehearsal Studio at Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center as part of the Double Exposure series. The event will take place in the Rose Studio, which is an intimate and elegant space at Lincoln Center and is popular in the new music scene.
The Chamber Music Society’s Double Exposure series invariably affords its audiences a new listening experience thanks to programming rich in recently composed works. And since new pieces are rarely grasped completely at one hearing, the format provides for two performances of each piece, with a discussion (with performers and/or composers) in between. This year’s series kicks off with pieces by four composers one of which will be Ms. Athanasia Tzanou.
Ms. Athanasia Tzanou is a composer of mostly chamber, solo and symphonic pieces that have been successfully performed across Europe and in the USA. Ms. Tzanou received formal musical training at the Academy of Music in Milanin the composition class of Franco Donatoni, where she graduated in 1998 with high honors.
She has received numerous awards, including the Wiener Städtischer Versicherung (1998, to study composition with Boguslaw Schäffer, First Prize in the International Composition Competition for Guitar in Göttingen (2000) and Honorable Mention in a competition for chamber music in Forli, Italy (2000).
