New York.- The American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) presented President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades with a $25,000 donation to help feed Cypriot children in need, Sept. 25, 2014, in New York City, announced Supreme President Phillip T. Frangos.
“We stand with the citizens of Cyprus, who have endured hardship, as the country strives diligently to overcome the financial crisis and works to restore economic and social stability,” Frangos said. “We hope the donation helps in some small way to ease this hardship on families.”
The presentation was made on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly meetings. Chairman of the Board and Past Supreme President Nicholas A. Karacostas, a refugee of Cyprus, and Supreme Secretary Andy Zachariades, who is of Cypriot heritage, accompanied the supreme president to the presentation.
President Anastasiades, who was accompanied by Government Spokesman Nikos Christodoulides, thanked AHEPA for the donation.
