Washington, DC.- (GreekNewsOnline)
In a message to the members of the organization, AHEPA Executive Director Basil Mossaidis briefed them on the latest situation regarding the effects of the coranavirus pandemic in the life of the AHEPA.
The message reads as follows:
“At the direction of our Supreme President, George G. Horiates, AHEPA Global Headquarters has been in communication with the CDC. They are monitoring the current spread of the Corona Virus and of course everyone is worried about the contagion, but we have been told “Do not panic, be smart”.
In that vein I have attached a PDF and supplied this link which give some pointers on the “How to…” Please review this attachment and send it out to your chapter members, friends and neighbors.
Every chapter should consider the safety of all of its members and we are asking them to see if they feel comfortable to perhaps having phone meetings of the executive members or virtual meetings in the short term. WE cannot ask chapters to cancel meetings, but if the majority of the membership thinks they can skip a meeting or two during this initial phase of the virus effect on our communities, then they should consider it.
Please don’t worry or stress about the current events, be careful, be vigilant and hopefully when the weather changes this virus will dissipate. I am sure you have seen and heard the worst, but we need to assure our older members, and those with compromised immune systems to not worry and that this will all be over soon.
All AHEPA events are ongoing, and I am sure we will be notified if that changes. The Supreme President is still making visitations (as are the members of the Supreme Lodge) and we are all working towards the March 25, National Initiation day where all chapters are asked to hold an initiation in honor of that special day.
Headquarters is here to assist, please free to call. We will monitor the situation, and some of our staff may not be in the HQ building, but the work of AHEPA will continue, we will make sure that we have someone here to assist our membership. I would like to thank our Supreme President and our Chairman for their diligent and immediate response to this crisis.”
