New York.- The Solon Society, The Hellenic University and Cultural Society of Long Island will have a Lecture by Yiota Frezza, on “Ancient Tales Told in the Art of Greek Vases Painting”. On Thursday, March 9, 2006, at the Hellenic Room of the Cathedral of St. Paul, 110 Cathedral Avenue, Hempstead, NY 11550.
The fascinating study dealing with Greek Vase painting will be discussed by Yiota Frezza. The lecture will discuss and illustrate the evolution of style from Geometric to Black and Red Figures vase painting from the ninth to the fourth century, BC and what these vases tells us about the life or our ancestors. Included in the categories are athletics, family life, mythology, and the symposium.
Ms. Frezza has a background in chemistry, education and working with the gifted and talented programs for students in the public schools. Since her retirement from the field of education, she has been able to pursue her deep interest in the ancient world, especially about Greece and Byzantium by doing extensive research and study on these topics.
Refreshments will be served at 7:30, and lecture will be gin at 8pm.
