The annual Archon Weekend and Assembly of the Order of Saint Andrew will be held October 20-22 at the New York Hilton Midtown in New York City. The weekend will focus on our efforts to secure religious freedom for the Mother Church of Constantinople and welcome the 2017 Class of Archons.
The 2017 Athenagoras Human Rights Award will be presented on Saturday, October 21, to Nobel Peace Prize nominees Emilia Kamvisi and Efstratios Valiamos, an 86-year-old grandmother and a fisherman, both from the Greek island of Lesbos, who represent the people of Lesbos and the Greek Islands, for their heroic humanitarian efforts to save countless migrants from the Middle East.
The women and men of Lesbos, along with their compatriots on other islands in Greece, have been selfless in taking on the role of rescuers and receivers for the flood of refugees who have arrived on their shores after escaping conflicts in the Middle East. Kamvisi and Valiamos were chosen for the Award because of their own efforts and to represent all volunteers who have helped refugees in this time of crisis.
Archon Reince Priebus, former White House Chief of Staff, will be the Keynote Speaker at the Athenagoras Award Event.
The weekend begins Friday evening, with the Nicholas J. Bouras Award for Extraordinary Archon Stewardship at the annual Award Presentation and Dinner Dance that will recognize the accomplishments of Archon John A. Catsimatidis. The event will be held at:
