Nicosia.- UNFICYP fenced off an area in Denia village where landmines had been swept away due to heavy rain of the last days. Sources from UNFICYP told CNA that following consultations with the Police of Cyprus, the dangerous areas where fenced off but more action will be taken in the next days.
The Police said that as a result of heavy rain landmines from two minefields had been swept away from the Turkish occupied areas to the buffer zone.
In Mammari after a two-hour investigation in the area next to the river located in the village, nothing dangerous was found. In Denia village roads leading to the buffer zone were cut off.
