Nicosia.- The House President Marios Garoyian expressed on Wednesday the expectation that 2011 will be the year of Cyprus’ reunification. Garoyian was speaking after he had listened to Christmas carols by the Police band, the National Guard band and the band of the Greek military contingent in Cyprus (ELDYK).
He also wished that the new year will bring economic growth both for Greece and Cyprus and will minimize repercussions of the financial crisis, creating the necessary social cohesion.
Garoyian thanked the Greek military force in Cyprus for its longstanding contribution to strengthening the feeling of security in Cyprus.
EDLYK, the Greek military contingent, arrived in Cyprus in accordance with the treaties that established the Republic of Cyprus. Greece is one of the three guarantor powers of Cyprus – the other two being Britain and Turkey.
