Washington, D.C.- The next generation of Hellenic leaders learning at the feet of some of America’s most successful Hellenes is the best description of the tremendously successful Week in Washington. “A life-changing experience” and “extraordinary bonding with other Hellenes” are two reactions heard from past young participants.
This third annual program will take place June 19-23, 2006. There are a limited number of spaces this year, so those interested should register as soon as possible.
George Stephanopoulos, anchor of ABC’s This Week; George Tenet, former Director of the CIA, Senators Paul Sarbanes (D-MD) and Olympia Snowe (R-ME); Congressman Mike Bilirakis (R-FL) and Congresswoman Shelley Berkley (D-NV); and Frances Fragos Townsend, Assistant to President George W. Bush for Homeland Security, are some of the Hellenes with whom participants have conversed. They also met with: the manager of a the biggest stand-alone venture capitol operation in the world, Peter Barris; movie producers Jim and Ted Pedas; prominent businessman Steve Yeonas; entrepreneur Gregory Auger; former U.S. Agency for International Development Administrator (who controlled over $9.5 billion in U.S. foreign aid) Andrew Natsios; former White House Chief of Staff John Podesta; and former Associate Counsel to the President Dimitri Nionakis.
This program – fully titled “the Annual Week in Washington – Preeminent Hellenes Sharing Their Secrets to Success with the Next Generation” – is open to Hellenic individuals between the ages of 18-30 who are nominated by a Hellenic leaders (such as a member of Leadership 100, an Archon, a parish priest, a parish council president, an officer of a Greek-American organization, etc
