The theme of our movie “SIMPLY an ILLUSION” is about Individual Freedom — woman’s right to decide for herself—a woman’s liberation movement theme, if you wish. The strong will of a woman passionately in love with the wrong man, She comes to her senses and, decides to liberate herself from the pathos of her demeaning love affair, and cuts the rope loose, abling herself to become free and responsible for her decisions for good. Similarities with examples of strong women in Ancient Greece : Antigone, Lysistrata, Elactra, Medea, the Amazones, etc. Themes which later were repeated by a many great writers such as Shakespeare, Ibsen, Bernard Shaw, Nikos Kazantzakis, Arthur Miller, and so many more.
“Through our Company, we attempt to revitalize themes which contain the creative Greek Thought in America primarily through Arts and Culture. The idea is to establish a society of awareness of GREEK ARTS REVIVAL trying to elevate the current materialistic society of the 21st Century to the grandeur of the spirit of the antiquity and , particularly the ancient Greek Spirit, or, at least, the awareness of it, through Arts and Culture”, said John Mavros.
