More than 500 people attended Friday night the William Spyropoulos of Flushing PTA Fashion Show, held at the Terrace on the Park, whose owners, Dimitrios Kaloidis and George Makkos were honored for all they do for Greek Education and the Community in general. Councilman Peter Vallone Jr and Assemblyman Michael Gianaris also attended.
Parents and school teachers have shown exceptional talent in modeling, receiving the warm applaud from all participants.
Fashion Show chair lady and PTA president, Lena Varis, told GreekNews the show was once again a huge success.
“As always our PTA family together with our teachers and administrators gathered as one family and raised over $20,000 for our school. As I have stated many times, our Fashion Shows are not about the season’s most trendiest fashions, they are about paying tribute to the men and women who give so much to this community. Our teachers were the models and the focus of our show. We gathered to raise money, but also to applaud them for nurturing and cultivating our children into successful Greek-American leaders of tomorrow. At the same time, it was a priviledge to honor Terrace on the Park and it’s proprietors Mr. Dimitrios Kaloidis and Mr. George Makkos and also Helms Bros. of Bayside. Their contributions through the years have benefited the children of the William Spyropoulos school Their generosity and dedication to the preservation of Hellenism is to be commended”.
“We haven’t done anything more than anyone must do for Greek Education”, told Greek News, Dimitrios Kaloidis, who is a great benefactor of many parochial schools, along with his wife Georgia.
George Makkos told Greek news that the real honor belongs to every body at the St Nicholas Community, especially Fr Paul Palesty, the School Board and the parents, for working hard and with dedication. He also stated that St Nicholas Community has set an example of a close knit community with strong family values.
Fr Palesty, along with Principal Athena Kromidas, Ass. Principal Mary Tzallas, School Board Chair Haeda Mihaltses, Parish President Manny Kratsios and Co-chair of the event Anastasia Vrettos have greeted the audience.
