New York, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature the original work of Greek artist Stamatis Papadimos in Mélange of Milieu. The exhibitions open on March 4, 2014 and run until March 25, 2014. The opening reception will take place on the evening of Thursday, March 6, 2014.
Greek artist Stamatis Papadimos expresses his perspective on human nature and his socio-political views through vibrant prints and mixed media. His high-contrast, playful images immediately draw the viewer’s interest, and a variety of techniques keep us engaged in each piece – strong lines, unexpected juxtapositions of subject matter, and an excellent sense of rhythm and repetition. “My art exudes a mash up of understated cool, fun, and technical complexity, and my vibrancy as a person carries over into the intensity of my art,” Papadimos explains. His use of color and the way he plays with the two-dimensional plane are among the ways through which the artist showcases his sense of humor – yet his work is not just about being fun and playful. “My paintings always encapsulate a social or political comment,” he says. “I paint in order to transfer my message to the public.”
Papadimos was born in Athens, and currently lives in the Greek city of Volos. A professional painter since 2008, he has had numerous successful exhibitions and shows.
