Nicosia.- Tourist arrivals in 2015 can be described as ‘dynamic’, said on Friday Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism Minister George Lakkotrypis in his address at the opening of the Travel Fair 2015, adding that compared to last year, there is an increase in arrivals of 16% and a decrease of 4.4% in arrivals from Russia.
According to the Minister, from November 2014 to March 2015, the German market has recorded an increase of 22%, the Israeli market a 68% rise, the French 43%, the Greek market 12% and the UK 10%.
“The greatest challenge we are facing nowadays is the Russian market with arrivals from the country showing a downward trend in general but we are hoping that in Cyprus` case, losses will be minimised,” he added.
However, he said, “we are making coordinated efforts not only to limit these losses but at the same time to make up for them by being active in other key markets”.
Cyprus, he noted, pays close attention to Germany, Israel, Poland, the Czech Republic, France, Switzerland and the Arab countries.
