Athens.- Alternate National Defence Minister Kostas Isichos discussed on Friday issues related to the defence sector in a meeting with the U.S. embassy’s Deputy Chief of Mission to Greece Suzanne Lawrence.
In particular, the two sides discussed the possibility of training Greek Army officers in the United States and developments in the wider region.
Isichos noted Greece’s stabilizing role in a turbulent region and expressed its will to resolve any problems and issues of content with Turkey, while stressing that “Turkish provocations have escalated recently and the violations of International Law.”
The minister also thanked on behalf of the Greek government U.S. authorities for providing copies of documents from the files of the Wehrmacht relating to the period 1941-1944.
The ministry’s General Secretary Giannis Tafyllis, the U.S. embassy’s Defense Attaché Robert Palm and Deputy Political Counselor Amy Scanlon also attended the meeting.
