Washington (February 18, 2010) – The American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) welcomed the news that U.S. Representative Jim Himes (D-4-CT) joined the Congressional Caucus on Hellenic Issues. Representative Himes is a first-term congressman, and is a member of the House Committees on Financial Services and Homeland Security.
The congressman represents the 4th Congressional District of Connecticut and began his public service in Congress in 2009. His district includes Stamford, Norwalk, Bridgeport and many other towns in Fairfield County.
With Rep. Himes’s membership, the Hellenic Caucus now has 149 members, which is a record number for the Caucus.
“We thank Congressman Himes for joining the Hellenic Caucus,” said Supreme President Nicholas A. Karacostas. “We welcome Congressman Himes, and we look forward to working with him on issues of importance to the Greek American community.”
“We also applaud the efforts of AHEPA Yankee District 7 led by District Governor Nicholas Nikas, Past District Governor Kip Kyprianou, Stamford Chapter 99 President Arthur Kiratsous, and Brothers Nicholas Kydes and John Louizos,” said Karacostas. “We urge our community to reach out to their members of Congress and ask them to join the Hellenic Caucus. By doing so, we help to enhance and strengthen the U.S.-Greece relationship.”
